“On the day we left the Montorgeuil Market apartment, my husband told me that I could not have chosen a better location for our stay in Paris. Montorgueil is a wonderful street and part of a very interesting neighborhood.
The apartment was attractive and had everything we needed to be comfortable.”
“Location, location, location: THE reason to choose the charming Montorgueil Market apartment when staying in Paris. Metro access for both north-south and east-west lines is a block away. The pedestrian street is lined with specialty food markets and vibrant cafés. St. Eustache with its free Sunday organ concert is down the street, and the 15th century Tower of Jean Sans Peur is around the corner. A few blocks farther is the office to pick up the Paris Pass. One can walk to the Louvre or to the Beaubourg Center. This is also the decorative arts area of Paris with small ateliers, decorator showrooms and fabric shops.
Best of all, the location gives the sense of the real Paris, not the one touted in tourist guide books. A look out the window reveals nannies pushing carriages, residents on their way to and from work, delivery trucks stocking the food shops, and even the daily garbage trucks. No tour buses and throngs of photo-snapping travelers rushing for the next stop.
The apartment itself is simply, but tastefully, decorated with just the right amount of room for two people. The WiFi connection was effortless, and it was nice to know that we could use the telephone if needed. The kitchen is quite small, but certainly adequate for preparing breakfast or assembling a pre-dinner wine and cheese snack. The apartment is not air conditioned, which could be an issue during warm summer months with the windows open, because the hum of the street level cafés goes on until quite late. We came to look at the sixty steps up to its third floor location as justification for dessert after dinner!
From the minute we reserved the apartment, the A La Carte Paris staff did everything to make sure our stay would be perfect. Weekly postings from Alex let us know which flea market to visit and how to bargain, how not to stand out like a tourist, a special street in Montmartre, etc. Katy offered to have a driver reserved for us on our arrival at the train station. Gemma alerted us to a potential difficulty with a transportation strike. Oh, and did I mention the welcome bottle of Bordeaux and box of chocolates waiting for us? Yes, we would definitely return!”
“We booked our apartment for a week's stay, and I have to say that it exceeded our expectations. It was not large, but there was plenty of room for just the 2 of us. The location was magnificent - we had several great cafes, boulangeries, fromageries, patisseries, wine shops, and even groceries within steps of our front door. There was even a starbucks nearby for a much needed american-style coffee. It was also within walking distance to many of the sites we wanted to see, including the Louvre, D'Orsay, Notre Dame, and Montmartre. A La Carte's customer service was also top-notch - they really took care of us, and were even able to solve a minor internet issue very quickly. If and when we head back to Paris, we will book with A La Carte again without hesitation. There is really no reason to use anyone else. Thanks for a great experience!”
“The Montorgueil Market apartment was a wonderful Paris experience. It was a such treat to be able to live like a local for the week in such a historic and cultural section of Paris. Within steps from the apartment building there are numerous selections of food shops, as well as several Metro stations not far away. I've stayed at several A La Carte apartments, but Montorgueil Market is top on my list, I'll be back soon.”
“We enjoyed our stay at Montorgueil Market and the activity around this area. The apartment was just what we wanted with a good kitchen, bathroom and lounge room adjacent to the bedroom. The location in the 2nd arrondisement was great and gave us great access to the local bistros, cafes and the boucheries, boulangeries and patisseries this area is known for. We tried a number of the local eateries and were not disappointed. ”
“We were very happy with both the apartment and the location. Cleanliness and comfort couldn't be faulted. And the chocolate, wine and combination pen were lovely surprises, thank you.
“My wife Barbi and I just returned home to the Vancouver area after finishing our 4 week vacation in Italy and France with a one week stay in Paris at your apartment at Rue Montorgueil. We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. This was the first time we have rented an apartment as opposed to a Hotel room in Paris. 7 days is the longest time we have spent in Paris at one time …. In the past (2009) we spent 4 days in Paris and 4 days in Melun area. We definitely like the apartment idea better.
The location was great … your advice for a location in the central part of Paris was spot on ! Close to lots of attractions, restaurants, shops and Metro lines. We also appreciated your advice about the Marche aux Puces at Port Vanves in the south. We visited it last Sunday …. But arriving about 11 am. did not give us enough time to past by all of the vendors …. It was massive. We did find some items that we managed to bring home with us (two antique (1700’s) Pistolets that we had fun getting through Customs in Montreal !)
You advice for visitors from your website was helpful and insightful. All in all …. We are pleased with our stay and our decision to rent an apartment from A La Carte and will consider renting again …. WHEN … not IF …. We return to Paris for a visit.”
“We loved the apartment on Rue Montorgueil. So light and clean. Large windows across one side of the apartment allowed us to enjoy the sunshine as well as the fun street below. We felt like we were really in the middle of things. And yet, when you close the windows, the sounds of the street below entirely disappeared - quite impressive. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were complete. We had plenty of room and again, everything was clean. The full-sized bed was comfortable. The wi-fi internet worked well and was very convenient. So many fun shops and cafes in the neighborhood. We would stay here again on another visit.”
“The Montorgueil Market apartment is in a wonderfully central location. Most touristic sites (e.g.,Notre Dame, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur) are within easy or at least reasonable walking distance for those in normal health.
Rue Montorgueil is itself a lively market street. It's great to be able to walk out the door have many shops and cafes immediately at hand. For people who like to be active and don't mind a little noise, it's great. Those who want a restful environment should go elsewhere.
The apartment itself, while small, is tidy and comfortably furnished. Large windows in the living room and kitchen provide a nice breeze. The 3rd (EU) floor location gives a good view of the street, as well as a bit of isolation from the street noise, but it may be uncomfortable for those who have difficulty with stairs. Finally, our experience with the staff at A La Carte was very satisfactory. Emails and calls were answered promptly, and communication was easy.”
“My husband and I stayed at the Montorgueil Market apartment for 10 nights in July. This was our first time to Paris and we decided on an apartment stay over a Hotel for a more Parisian feel. We chose Montorgueil Market for its location and proximity to many attractions and we were not disappointed.
The apartment is in a superb location amongst loads of cafes, bakeries, shops, near the Metro and within walking distance of a number of major attractions such as the Louvre, Notre Dame, Galleries Lafayette and at least 2 of the best restaurants in Paris (Le Escargot & Frenchie) .
Not only we highly recommend the apartment, but we are looking forward to return as soon as we can. All easily booked, paid and handed over by email, EFT etc.”
“This apartment was located in a wonderful convenient location. We loved it. It was a very busy area, which we liked. Lots of cafes, bars, markets. This was our first time doing an apt vs a hotel and we will do the apartment again next time. It gives you the freedom to pick if you want to eat in our out. It also was more comfortable and spacious than just a hotel room. It was easy to make the reservation and they are helpful with anything you need. IT WAS AWESOME............”
