Marais Charm (Le Marais)

Marais Charm

This spacious apartment, fully designed and renovated by our in house A La Carte Design team, is located in the center of Paris on a street full of activity.

The Marais Charm, a one bedroom spacious apartment, is located in the center of Paris on a bustling street of the historic Marais area. This apartment combines the classic Parisian charm with the comfort and style of modern furnishings and amenities. The apartment has been freshly renovated and refurnished by the A La Carte design team, known for their designing style of soft tones and splashes of creativity inviting you to relax after a day of sight seeing.

Entering the apartment into the main living space, which doubles as a seating and dinning area, has large windows looking out to a charming courtyard. You’ll love the use of the fun wallpaper, images inspired from vintage drawings, which is used to act as a backsplash for a bookshelf adding a cute spin to the lovely interior.

Walking down the hall also adorned with wallpaper with subtle silvery color, you are greeted to a spacious bedroom decorated with splashes of dark orange. You’ll be excited to see the original marble fireplace. Plenty of space to relax and unpack and even sit at the small desk should you want to write a postcard home!

Of course we can’t forget the kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you need to fix a full meal should you want to spend a night in. The bathroom has a full bathtub, a full marble double sink area and a separate toilet.

The Marais Charm apartment has all that one would hope for in terms of aesthetic appeal; plenty of space, comfort, old charm, and modern amenities. With a perfectly central location and a beautiful spacious interior, this is an ideal Paris home from which to explore all the best areas of central Paris on foot.

“We were delighted by this Marais apartment. It overlooks a courtyard with a lovely tree. Our three week stay during December and Christmas was so relaxing as we took advantage of the great location - close to excellent shops, Metro and attractions. The apartment is very comfortable and with the access to good groceries we ate at home more often than not. We really appreciated the free landline and the WIFI - both of these made our stay very comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this apartment to others. However, it is up two flights of stairs so make sure you don't have mobility problems or very big bags.”

“We had the most wonderful experience with A La Carte. They made booking very easy and always respond quickly with any questions or concerns. They met us at our Marais Charm apartment and showed us how everything works and gave lots of great advice for our stay. The apartment was even more lovely in person than it looked online. Super central in my favorite Paris neighborhood. Very comfortable bed. It felt like coming home every night. And they even left a bottle of champagne and chocolates with a sweet note. We will definitely be re-booking with A La Carte in the future. So much better than a hotel.”

“My husband and I stayed in the Marais Charm apartment during our visit in October. This was my second trip staying at an A La Carte apartment, also in the Marais. I love the neighborhood and the Marais Charm was just what we were looking for...close to transit, cafes, markets and walking distance to the river. The courtyard and busking were very safe and secure, and quiet being that we were staying just off of a bustling street. There was even a small elevator to help with getting bags upstairs. I'd highly recommend this company and his location to anyone looking for a more authentic stay in Paris!”

“We had a wonderful stay at the Eiffel Nest Studio apartment. The location on rue Duvivier was perfect, close to the Metro and bus stops. The neighborhood around rue Cler provided anything we needed, good restaurants and groceries. The apartment met all our needs. It was bright, immaculate, cozy and quiet. I would highly recommend A La Carte Paris to anyone who wanted a good place to stay in Paris!”

“We had a wonderful time in Paris. The Marais Charm apartment was ideally located to allow us to walk to many of the city landmarks, as well as shops and restaurants. The apartment itself was charming, quiet and nicely appointed. The bottle of champagne and the box of chocolate were very a nice touch! The bed was very comfortable, and there was enough storage, and clothes hangers - not something we find in many hotels! It was nice to have a washer and dryer in the apartment as we were able to return home and not have suitcases full of dirty clothes.”

“The apartment in the Marais is both cozy and charming! It is located on lively Rue Rambuteau with grocery stores next door and a good selection of cafes. Nevertheless you cannot hear any street noise because there is a lovely inner courtyard that insulates you from all of that. The apartment is clean and well outfitted. The welcome was cordial and helpful. Highly recommended!”

“Our stay in Marais Charm was everything we expected! The location is terrific; the Metro is 1/2 block away, quality restaurants and shopping at your doorstep, as well as many others within a few blocks. Our stay started off with just myself and teenage daughter, with my husband joining us later in the week. I was never concerned for safety, the apartment is located within a central courtyard, away from the noise and activity of the main street. The apartment was clean & comfy, with a large bathroom by Paris standards, which having two teenage daughters was helpful! We were greeted by a lovely gentleman, Daniel?, who reviewed everything we would need to know about the apartment, so check in/out was simple. I would highly recommend a stay at Marais Charm! ”

“Forgot to add how much we appreciated the supply of washing powder and kitchen supplies, lots of lovely towels and the yum chocolates and wine! The beds were wonderfully comfortable (great sofa bed) and I really enjoyed looking through the delightful Paris books for extra information on what to see and where things are located.”

“We had a wonderful time in Paris and the apartment in the Marais was perfect for us.
It was so charming and comfortable and surprisingly quiet; we particularly appreciated the spacious bathroom, the bath and the facility for us to wash and dry our clothes. The kitchen worked well too; it was well equipped and we were able to make simple meals very easily.
The position in the Marais was just wonderful. It was close to everything we needed and in such a lively and interesting street. Having such ready access to food shops, bakeries, a supermarket, cafes, bars and even a vegetarian restaurant was fabulous and enabled us to slip into the "parisien life" very easily. We loved the Marias and could have easily spent all our time just wandering the streets, visiting the markets, eating at the restaurants and shopping in the stylish and interesting shops.
We were also very appreciative of the service and communication we had from your company regarding the cleaning, the train strikes and any other issues we needed to be aware of.
Thank you very much again for making our Paris holiday so easy and memorable.”

“We had a wonderful stay in Marais Charm. The cleaner had made the place spotless. I will be happy to have him to clean my house. The apartment is so tidy and neat. The floor can be squeaky but we got used to it and it was more like a game to see who had made the less squeak. The toilet can be a challenge for tall people with long legs. I am tiny but I still found it a bit difficult. However, that seems to be a style in Paris as we ran into few public toilets from the restaurant were like that too. The bed is so lovely and comfy, made us feel just like home.
When we were there, the tree in the courtyard was just starting to grow, it will be beautiful once the leaves all fully grown. And the location of the apartment is perfect, close to metro, supermarket, bakery and Notre Dame!! Yet, the apartment is super quiet because it's not facing the main road with traffic noises. I am a very light sleeper so being in a quiet apartment is a must for me.
Our uncle was the one who recommended A La Carte to us. We highly recommend A La Carte after we experienced the great service ourselves. Katy had helped us to pick the perfect apartment that suits us. The best part is all staff in there are so helpful, kind, profession and efficient. That is what we called excellent service!! The driver was so kind and profession, he even carried our luggage for us!”

“The Marais Charm apartment exceeded our expectations. It was beautifully equipped, spacious, and very comfortable. The location was stellar with everything we could possibly want nearby. We walked everywhere and enjoyed the bustle of the street and neighbourhood, but remarkably, found the apartment very quiet as it gives onto a courtyard. The amenities were great - unlike some other rentals, we did not have to buy garbage bags, paper towels, coffee filters, etc., and the welcome bottle of wine and chocolates made it extra special.

The staff and service at À la Carte was wonderful. It was nice to know that you were only a phone call away. We will absolutely book again next year. Thank you for a very wonderful Parisian experience. It was indeed our best Parisian stay. Ever. And we have been going there for over 20 years!”

“Staying at the Marais Charm felt like living in Paris like a local. The whole process from booking to airport transfer was seamless and smooth. The apartment is located right next to the Metro station and within walking distance of almost everything worth seeing in Paris. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and the showerhead was a dream and so soothing after a long day of walking. It was a pleasure to wake up and pop over to the local Boulangerie (bakery) for fresh croissants and the fresh fruit market next door. I have only positive things to say about our stay. Thanks A La Carte!”

“I have worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and I was very impressed with Marais Charm. This was my first time booking a "non-hotel" city escape so I wasn't sure what to expect. I chose A la Carte Paris as they had affordable options in Paris and offered excellent personal customer service.
My son and I were thrilled to stay at Marais Charm. The location was ideal, safe and close to everything we needed and wanted including the Velib bike rentals. The quaint little shops and cafes were right outside the door and there was always something open in case we wanted a midnight treat. The apartment was very spacious and quiet which is important as the Paris streets are quite noisy. Having the courtyard view was exactly what we needed to enjoy our peaceful stay. Not only was the apartment very large it was clean, the bed and the pullout couch mattresses were very comfortable which is another plus! The cute little kitchen had everything we needed, WiFi was excellent and two big bonuses were the bathtub shower combo plus a washer and dryer! We actually went home with clean clothes which was so nice as no one wants to do work when they get back from vacation.
I hadn't planned on returning to Paris in the near future but after having stayed at Marais Charm... I definitely want to return and stay there again. It was the best vacation I have ever had and I attribute a big part of that to the excellent accommodations and customer service I received. And on a side note... It is worth it to arrange a pick up and drop off to the airport!”

“Marais Charm was lovely. it is a quiet, well appointed apartment but right in the middle of a busy street with all amenities you need to be self contained. Step out of the cobblestoned courtyard and you can see a boulangerie, fruit shop, supermarket, restaurants, cafes, patisserie and charcuterie. It is 3 minutes walk to the Metro station which is invaluable as it makes getting around so easy. The location is also an easy walk to lots of sites you would want to visit. We would happily stay here again.”
Margie Gilbert from United States stayed in January 2015
“My husband and I stayed for four days in this apartment perfectly located on a bustling Marais street
yet set back into a courtyard so it was super quiet. When we stepped outside the gated doorway though everything
and anything was available including fantastic shopping, and an endless assortment of specialty food vendors, cafes
and restaurants. We traveled easily all around Paris by the Metro (stop was right on the corner) and the 72 bus which let us off quite close. The interior of the apartment was very warm and cozy, although it could have used a lounge chair in the living room. The bed was very comfy, kitchen equip with more than anyone could ever use for a short
stay, and the super large bath made up for the totally tiny WC! Our contact was waiting for us upon arrival, and greeting us inside was a very nice bottle of red wine and a box of yummy chocolates. Suffice to say, we enjoyed everything about our stay and will definitely book again with A La Carte Paris!!”

“Our second stay in an A La Carte Paris apartment was just as nice as our first, last year. This time, we rented Marais Charm, which was quiet, comfortable and very nicely located. Jean-Eric greeted us again, as he did last year, and gave an orientation tour of the apartment. The ALCP staff are thoroughly delightful and DEPENDABLE.
We didn’t stay more than five shorts blocks for excellent, reasonably-priced dinners (le Hangar, Auberge Nicolas Flamel, l’Ange 20, Au Bon Pho, Geoffroy l’Olive).
Several excellent museums are also pretty much within a stone’s throw or ten minute walk – Pompidou, History of Judaism, Arts et Metier, Carnavalet, Cognaq-Jay, Picasso (but buy tickets for 11:00, or else you’ll be on line for an hour, tickets or not).
My only suggestion for improvement is to replace the rather dim incandescent light bulbs with 2700K compact fluorescents. You’ll get the same atmospheric effect, save electricity, and I’ll be able to read at night. Also, one other comment for the really tall: you might find the separate toilet to be cramped.
All-in-all, enjoyable, and very much up to the standards I have come to expect from ALCP. We’ll be back.”
Marilyn Heckmyer & Gerry Lander from United States stayed in September 2014
“'The Marais Charm was exactly as described - CHARMING. We loved every minute of our stay in this fully appointed apartment. It was tastefully decorated and had everything one would need including a separate washer and dryer. You couldn’t ask for a better location. Just on this one block you can find 3 fruit/vegetable markets, a butcher shop, a fish store, a few carry out places and …. You are 1/4 block from the Rambuteau Metro station and about 4 blocks from the Hotel d’Ville Metro station. You can walk to many places. We can’t wait to go back and stay in this apartment.
We highly recommend A La Carte Paris. This is the third time we have rented for a month from them. We never hesitate recommending them to our friends. The apartments are just the way they look on their site. They go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. For example, since we aren’t early risers we requested the cleaning service come in the afternoon. They were so obliging.
Thanks again to the A La Carte Team. It was our best Paris stay ever!'”
Robin Pearce from Australia stayed in June 2014
“This is a spacious, light filled, modern apartment with plenty of style and designer touches. It has been recently renovated and was freshly painted, spotlessly clean and well organised. In typical A la Carte fashion everything needed for an enjoyable stay was provided, including simple but practical items like cleaning products. The main bed was very comfortable as was the sofa bed in the lounge room, there was lots of cupboard space, a good sized bathroom/laundry and a modern, well equipped kitchen. The apartment overlooks a quiet, secure courtyard that leads to a bustling street full of shops and restaurants at your doorstep. It is in a very central location on the edge of the lovely Marais, in walking distance to the key sites of central Paris and with easy access to the metro for travel to things further afield. As always, working with the professional A la Carte team was effortless from the booking process (thanks Katy for all your helpful advice!) through to departure. This was the third time I have used A la Carte and will be in touch again the next time I visit Paris.”

“Our one month stay in the Marais Charm apartment was a most pleasurable experience. The apartment met all our needs.
The kitchen is well equipped and allowed us to prepare quality meals at home as required. We made freshly brewed coffee every morning from coffee purchased locally and we bought fresh baguettes daily from the boulangerie over the road. The local supermarket provided most of the things we needed at a reasonable price & the staff were friendly and helpful. We had several meals at Station Rambuteau cafe bar on the corner and evening meals at other local restaurants in the Marais. Rue des Rosiers is a great place for falafels. Marais Charm has a roomy bedroom with lots of clothes storage, the dining/lounge is also spacious and comfortable and the bathroom/laundry with bath, shower and double basins met all our needs. We were pleased to have a separate toilet and plenty of room in the shower. We appreciated the wi-fi and the free landline calls to Australia and France. There was also a good range of novels and guide books which we used to advantage. Paris, by Edward Rutherfurd is recommended reading. What bettter place to read this novel than Paris? The Marais is a treasure trove of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, museums and other shops. We recommend Paquetage Outlet, in Rue du Temple (just around the corner heading north) for leather bags. We also found jewelry & clothing to our liking in the Marais. Although we visited BHV Rivoli, Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, we would suggest that time is better spent in the small shops of the Marais. Including Place des Vosges, there are numerous pleasant parks and gardens in the Marais to relax in and watch life go by. We had time to visit Maison Victor Hugo, Musee Cognacj-Jay, Musee Carnavalet, the Pompidou Centre, Musee d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaisme, & the Holocaust Memorial. All of these in the Marais and most of them are free. Musée Picasso is also in the Marais but is currently closed for repairs. We found that most of the major attractions in Paris are within walking distance of the Marais, and if you tire then the Metro will whisk you home in a flash. Walking to most places gave us the opportunity to discover new shops, parks, attractions, monuments, churches etc. The ongoing support provided by A La Carte, from the time of booking until the day we left Paris, was helpful and supportive. Katy answered all our questions with patience and humour & the cleaning staff gave the apartment a weekly makeover.
We would certainly recommend A La Carte to travellers seeking self-catering accommodation. Thank you Katy for a memorable stay in Paris.”

“I spent two nights in the Marais Charm and absolutely adored the one bedroom apartment. The space was much larger than any comparable hotel room, and myself and two friends shared the apartment comfortably thanks to the pull-out couch in the living room. The location of the building itself was ideal--right in the middle of the Marais, and a quick and easy walk to two different metro stops. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.”
Shelagh Martin from Australia stayed in August 2013
“Many thanks to the A La Carte team - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marais Charm last week. The booking process was seamless and when we had questions, responses were always prompt. Our transport was waiting at the airport as promised, and again for our return. We really appreciated being able to store our luggage at your office between the time we vacated the apartment and our late afternoon flight out of Paris. It was nice to meet some of your team, who were very welcoming to us. The location of Marais Charm was perfect! Everything we could have needed was right there! Convenience stores were metres away. There were cafes and restaurants in abundance and close by. Retail variety shopping was a 5 minute walk. The Metro was at the corner of our street. Notre Dame and the Seine were a couple of blocks away. The apartment was beautifully furnished - from the tasteful décor and furniture to the beautiful dinnerware. Definitely a French ambience, which we loved. It was spotlessly clean - and there was a range of cleaning products in the cupboards. The wine and fruit bowl were a lovely welcoming gesture. It is certainly deserving of it's name - Marais Charm - it was charming indeed. Would we stay at the Marais Charm again? Most definitely!”
Karen Meehan from Australia stayed in June 2013
“I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your apartment. i could not fault it in any way, it was very large for Paris standards and had everything you could ask for,the location was excellent and very central. Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay there.”

“This was our second stay with A La Carte Paris and we know why we chose to stay with them again. The teams attention to detail is what sets them apart. Our Marais Charm apartment was everything we could have hoped for and more. The apartment was beautifully decorated but still with a wonderful Parisian feel and it had absolutely everything that we needed. I loved the fact that all the day to day essentials such as detergent, washing powder, granulated coffee etc are all supplied for your use. We were warmly greeted by Danielle with a bottle of wine, orange juice and a large bowl of fresh fruit and she immediately made us feel at home. She explained how everything in the apartment worked and showed us where all the local shops were. Our Marais Charm apartment was so conveniently located to all the main Paris sights and the metro system and the array of local shops offered a wonderful array of food and wine. Even though this is a bustling area of the Marais, the fact that the apartment is set back in the courtyard means that it is very quiet. We couldn't have asked for anything more and we absolutely loved our stay. Thank you Alex and all the A La Carte Paris team. We look forward to our next stay with you.”
Karen & Jeffrey Harrison from United States stayed in June 2013
“The Marais Charm apartment is everything that is advertised and more. The location couldn't be better with the Rambuteau metro stop half a block away, Notre Dame ten minutes away by foot and located in the middle of a neighborhood street strewn with bistros, a small pharmacy, fresh vegetable and fruit shops, a bakery and a chocolate shop - not to mention a sushi restaurant two doors down that serves some of the best sushi we've ever had at a fantastic price. Entering from the street into the serene cobblestone courtyard of the apartment building, you walk up a few flights on a charming wood spiral staircase to your own private place in Paris. There you can drift back to the turn of the century listening to the soft classical piano played by one of the building residents or stay firmly in the 21st century using the WIFI provided in the apartment.
Clean, airy and spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, the Marais Charm is beautifully decorated throughout. The beds are comfortable (one queen sized in the single bedroom, one fold out in the living room) and the bathroom large with a fantastic bath/shower.
The A La Carte team is efficient and helpful and helped us to arrange transportation for us to get to the apartment upon our arrival and back to the airport at the end of our stay. We will definitely be utilizing the services of this fine company on our next trip to Paris.”

“We stayed at the Marais Charm during May 2013 using A La Carte Paris rentals. The roomy and well-appointed apartment is exactly as shown on the website: a quality apartment. From our first point of email contact to being met at the apartment we found it all to be very organised and professional. We mainly dealt with Katy who always responded to our emails promptly and provided lots of useful information prior to arriving from Australia and during our stay. The apartment is in a great area with plenty of good restaurant choices nearby [eg 4 minutes walk away - L’Ange 20 & Le Hangar] It is close to many places of interest: Place de Voges, Rue des Rosiers, 15 mins walk to Notre Dame, metro, etc. We would highly recommend A La Carte and would have no hesitation in using them again. Thank you.”

“Had a wonderful stay in Marais Charm. Was so much better than booking 2 hotel rooms in a good 3 star hotel for a week, similar pricing but more comfortable and better amenities. Having someone meet us at the airport and take to our apartment was a valuable added extra. It really isn't a fun experience to search quaint little streets in Paris when you are travel weary and dragging luggage.
November can be cold and wet but our apartment was cozy and warm with all mod cons. Apartments in these lovely old buildings can be a little shabby but all furnishings and finishes in Marais Charm were clean, comfortable and up to date. Keypad entry provided safe access. The location was wonderful, bakery, grocery etc. on the same street, great fun walking around, nearby restaurants, shops, Metro, points of interest. Transaction with the agency was efficient and secure. Requiring clarification I spoke with Katy via Skype which provided me with reassurance. I have already recommended Paris A La Carte to friends and family, very happy with our stay.”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in Paris. We absolutely the loved the apartment in the Marais and plan to come back soon. I took some of your information and made copies for my friends so they could try your apartments when visiting Paris. It is absolutely the way to visit...so much more comfortable and more personal than a hotel. We just loved it.
Thank you so much for accommodating us at the last minute...we were lucky to get back to the US with all the flight cancellations due to the hurricane, but we made it.
I look forward to talking with you in the future and seeing Paris again again very soon. Please feel free to use us as testimonials or references if you like...we certainly were satisfied customers!”
